The Gardens’ team
I’m Andrea, the Head Gardener here at the Botanical Gardens. I have been in post since December 2019.
The Gardens had been a favourite place of mine to visit over many years, so I felt so honoured to take on this job. To keep the gardens looking beautiful I lead a dedicated team of 5 full-time gardeners and 2 assistant gardeners.
I am lucky, too, to welcome and oversee a group of volunteers, mostly from the Friends (FOBS) group, who work each week tidying and weeding borders and beds come rain or shine.
Our working days vary, but the backbone of our work is general maintenance such as grass cutting, weeding and pruning. In addition to this, we are constantly thinking of ways to enhance the beauty and grandeur of the gardens.
I hope I can make this place as special to you as it is to me and the team.
