Raising the Flag
Sheffield Botanical Gardens is celebrating after being awarded the coveted Green Flag Award. This internationally recognised stamp of approval is only given to green spaces which have attained high standards in a range of areas.
The scheme, run by Keep Britain Tidy, aims to reward green spaces that are tidy, welcoming, well-maintained and have good community links. They must also demonstrate biodiversity, as well as good marketing, communication and management.
The Award is testament to the tireless work of the Sheffield City Council gardening team, volunteers - including the Friends of the Botanical Gardens Sheffield (FOBS) - and the Sheffield Botanical Gardens Trust, the charity which raises money to help keep the Gardens looking beautiful.
